Sour Cream Corn Bread


3/4 c. corn meal
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. salt
2 1/2 Tbs. sugar
1 egg, well beaten
2 Tbs. melted butter
1 c. sour cream
4 Tbs. milk


Sift flour and corn meal; measure and add baking soda, cream of tartar, salt and sugar. Sift again. Add beaten egg, sour cream, milk and melted shortening. Beat thoroughly. Pour into a greased 9" square pan. Bake at 425 for 20 minutes.
