Ginger Creams


1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. baking molasses (Brer Rabbit)
4 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. hot water


Cream together shortening and sugar. Add eggs. Beat well. Add molasses. Sift together flour, salt, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, cinnamon and baking soda. Add to creamed mixture. Add hot water and mix well. You may have to add a little more flour. Drop by teaspoon on greased baking sheet. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes.
