Rutabaga and Apple


3 c. cubed pared rutabaga
1 medium apple, peeled, cored, and sliced
6 Tbs. brown sugar
2 Tbs. butter


Cook rutabaga in boiling salted water 20-25 minutes, or just till tender; drain. Place half rutabaga and half apple in 1 qt. casserole. Sprinkle with half the brown sugar; dot with half the butter; sprinkle with salt. Repeat layers. Bake, covered, at 350 for 30 minutes.
