German Creamed Peas


1 can peas
1 Tbs. cornstarch
1 Tbs. butter
1 tsp. minced onion
5 slices crisp fried bacon, crumbled


Drain peas saving 1/4 c. of liquid, adding milk sufficient to cover peas in pan. Stir in cornstarch while peas are cold. Heat on low while stirring till mixture thickens. Add butter, onions, bacon and black pepper (if desired). Simmer on low heat, stirring often, for 3-4 minutes.
