Bread Pudding


10 slices white bread
10 slices brown bread
6 Tbs. sugar
3 c. milk
2 Tbs. butter
1 Tbs. flour
1 Tbs. raisins, chopped
3 Tbs. candied lemon peel, chopped
1 c. almonds, chopped
2 Tbs. rum
Powdered sugar


Break bread into small pieces. Dissolve sugar in milk and soak bread in this for 1 hour. Melt butter, mix with bread and blend in flour, raisins, lemon peel and nuts. Transfer to pudding form, cover, set in water and cook over moderate heat for 20 minutes. Turn out and sprinkle with rum and sugar to serve.
