Bacon Croutons


2 slices bacon
2 large slices white bread cut into cubes


Chop bacon finely. Put into a dry frying pan and cook slowly to extract fat, then cook until crisp and golden. Remove bacon bits and reserve. Add enough oil to the bacon drippings to cook the diced bread over a moderate-to-hot temperature, stirring constantly to ensure that the cubes brown evenly, When golden brown, remove and drain. Add the bacon bits with pepper and serve hot.
