Shipwreck Stew


2 Tbs. fat
1 lb. ground beef
3/4 c. onion, sliced
1/4 c. raw rice
3 c. potato, cubed
1 can diced carrots or other vegetable
1 tsp. salt
Dash of pepper
1 c. water


Melt fat in heavy skillet. Arrange a layer of beef, onion, rice, potato and vegetables in skillet. Add seasonings and water. Cover pan and cook slowly on top unit for 1 hour. Can be cooked in slow oven.
