Ingredients:
3 lbs. light brown sugar
2 c. Crisco
16 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 Tbs. a;um
1 qt. buttermilk
1 tsp. nutmeg

Directions:
Cream sugar and Crisco. Combine flour and soda. Put alum in a little hot water, then mix with flour. blend two mixtures. Add milk and nutmeg. Chill overnight. Roll 1/4" thick. Cut out and brush with egg before baking. Bake at 350 until done.
